Countries with bilateral agreements with Portugal, such as: Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Morocco, Andorra, São Tomé and Príncipe, etc. Countries under international conventions (Vienna/ Geneva Convention), for example: USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, among others.

If a force majeure event prevents the contract from continuing for more than 20 days, either party may cancel the contract without penalties.

Yes, in Portugal, a Category B driving licence (car licence) allows you to drive certain types of scooters under the following conditions: ✅ Scooters up to 50cc Can be driven by anyone with a Category B licence, regardless of age or how long they’ve held the licence. These are classified as mopeds, limited to a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Helmet use is mandatory, and specific road rules for mopeds must be followed. ✅ Scooters up to 125cc Can be driven with a Category B licence only if: The driver is over 25 years old; The scooter must not exceed 11 kW of power. 📝 Note: Your licence must be valid and free of restrictions; Foreign drivers should check if their licence is valid in Portugal or if an International Driving Permit is required; When renting a scooter from us, you must present all necessary documentation according to the type of scooter selected.
Yes! For safety reasons and in accordance with Portuguese law, we provide one helmet included in the scooter rental. If needed, you may also request a second helmet for a passenger (subject to availability). All helmets are properly sanitized and comply with current safety standards.
Yes, depending on the engine size. 125cc scooters are allowed on expressways and highways (if permitted). 50cc scooters are not allowed on highways.

Procedures

You must immediately notify the rental company and authorities, not leave the scene, and complete the Friendly Accident Statement (DAAA).
Contact the rental company’s 24-hour assistance service (+351 919015778). If the breakdown is due to misuse, the costs will be the customer’s responsibility.

Dropoff

In the event of a delay exceeding three hours beyond the agreed return time stipulated in the Rental Contract, the LESSOR has the right to report the vehicle as stolen to the authorities unless the CLIENT informs the LESSOR of their intent to extend the rental period.
The Auto Rmalhense station near the airport opens at 6:00, while Ponta Delgada Airport opens at 5:00. To bridge this time gap, customers have the option to leave the car in Park 1 of the airport, in front of the departure gate. When parking the vehicle, the customer must leave the car keys and the parking ticket in the glove compartment. Later, a Rent a Car employee will go to the location and collect the vehicle. This service has an additional cost of €15.

Fuel policy

If the customer uses a fuel type different from the one recommended by the manufacturer (indicated in the vehicle registration certificate and on the fuel cap), they will be responsible for: Complete fuel replacement. Fuel tank cleaning. Engine adjustments and any necessary repairs. All related costs will be charged to the customer.
The vehicle is delivered with a certain fuel level and must be returned with the same amount. Otherwise, the customer will be charged for the missing fuel at the market price.
No, the customer is responsible for refueling the vehicle during the rental period.
Yes, but the rental company does not refund customers for extra fuel left in the tank.

Prices, insurances and coverage

Included in the rental rate The CLIENT and/or the authorized driver of the vehicle is covered by a third-party liability insurance up to a maximum amount of €50,000,000, which covers compensation for bodily injury and material damage caused to third parties as a result of a traffic accident. It also includes personal accident insurance for occupants (driver and passengers), and theft insurance for the vehicle. The price per day decreases the more days you select to rent your vehicle.

The price per day for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Insurance starts at €15 and increases up to a maximum of €40 per day, while the applicable deductible starts at €56 and can go up to €120, depending on the make and model of the chosen car.

Reservations

Yes, but you must inform the rental company and sign a new contract before the current one expires. Driving with an expired contract may result in fines.
Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before the reservation date, bank fees will be deducted from the amount to be refunded to the client. Once the contract starts, no refunds are issued for early returns.
Through the website, reservations are only confirmed upon full payment (100%) of the contracted services at the end of the booking process. Reservations made through other channels can be paid for in our stores when picking up the vehicle.

Shuttle

As soon as the flight lands in Ponta Delgada, the Auto Ramalhense staff member will contact the customer to arrange transportation from the airport to our agencies, five minutes away. Typically, the meeting point is located next to the flagpoles in Parking Lot 1, right in front of the exit doors.

Payments

A deposit or credit card is not required to make a car reservation.
